Feng Shui allows people to live in harmony with nature. House or the living space is the main source for Chi. Even the type of the stair case and the type of the stair case also will also decides the free flow of Chi and it is also so important in Feng Shui. A stair case positioned in the wrong place will allow the Chi to get deflect the Chi in the wrong direction. If the stair way is placed in front of the front door, then the chi will flow to the up stairs which will bring in more energy and increasing the Chi level in your home. The Chi goes from the front door to the upstairs and then it returns back to the ground floor. Using mirrors, wind chimes, potted plants and screens on the stairs will slow down the rushing Chi.
If you have raisers instead of steps for stair ways, it will hinder the free flow of Chi to the second floor. You can also place plants under the stair ways which will deflect the Chi to the second floor and the flow of the Chi will be free and continuous. A stair way that is curvy is best as it allows the Chi to wind and flow freely everywhere. If you have a mid way between your stair way, it will be more better for the Chi to take rest as it goes often and comes again. If your stairway has sharp bends use mirrors, plants or wind chimes to remedy the situation. You can also place a heavy statue on the floor at the base to stabilize the Chi. If you have a spiral stair way, then it is very hard for the Chi to flow freely and it will be easy for the chi to fluctuate.
The number of the steps in stair case should be in odd numbers according to Feng Shui. Stairs should be solid and there should be no opening at the back of each stair as it allows Chi to escape and it will not move to the second floor.
The stairs should be kept clean and should be well lit. As the Chi flows freely in the staircase it is best advised to sleep near the top or the bottom of the stair case. This will allow more energy to you. Arrange things in a orderly manner and install cup boards so that you can keep things tidy. Staircase running through the center of the house will cause conflict in the family.
